എന്തു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിനെ നമ്മുടെ സംസ്ഥാനപക്ഷിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്..?
ആറു മാസം മുന്നേ പത്തനംതിട്ടയിൽ വച്ചു നടന്ന ഒരു നേതൃത്വ പരിശീലന ക്ലാസ്,...ഇഷ്ടവിഷയമായതു കൊണ്ടും അല്പതലക്കനം കൂടുതലായതു കൊണ്ടും ക്ലാസ്സിൻെറ മുൻനിരയിൽ സ്ഥാനംപിടിച്ചു...ക്ലാസ്സെടുക്കുന്നത് കോഴിക്കോട് സ്കൂൾ ജാഗ്രതാസമിതിയുടെ ജില്ലാകോർഡിനേറ്റർ ആണ്...ഓരോരോ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് കടന്നു..പെട്ടന്ന് അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായൊരു ചോദ്യം.....എന്തു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിനെ നമ്മുടെ സംസ്ഥാനപക്ഷിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്..??..പല ഉത്തരങ്ങളും പറഞ്ഞു..മഴ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്,,വംശനാശം സംഭവിക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ട്,,,,അങ്ങനെ പലതും..എല്ലാം കേട്ടതിനു ശേഷം സാർ പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങി..നമ്മൾ കേരളീയർ കുടുംബ ബന്ധങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നവരാണ്...അതുപോലെ കുടുംബത്തിനു പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്നതു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിന് ആ പദവി കിട്ടിയതെന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചൊന്നും തോന്നിയില്ല..എന്നാൽ കാര്യങ്ങൾ വിശദീകരീച്ചപ്പോൾ ഒരു മുത്തശ്ശിക്കഥ കേൾക്കുന്ന ലാഘവത്തോടെ ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരുന്നു്..ഒട്ടേറെ നൊമ്പരത്തോടെയും.......
സാധാരണ പക്ഷികളും മ്യഗങ്ങളും പോളിഗാമിയാണ്..അതായത് ഒരു പക്ഷിക്ക് ഒന്നിലേറെ ഇണകൾ...എന്നാൽ വേഴാമ്പലിൻെറ ജീവിതായുസ്സിൽ ,അതിന് ഒരൊറ്റ ഇണ മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ.. വേഴാമ്പൽ ഇണ ചേർന്നശേഷം മരത്തിൽ പൊത്തുണ്ടാക്കി പെൺപക്ഷി അതിൽ മുട്ടയിടുന്നു..പെൺപക്ഷിയെ പൊത്തിലിരുത്തി ആൺപക്ഷി തൻെറ ശരീരത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ഒരു ദ്രവം കൊണ്ട് പൊത്ത് അടയ്ക്കും..കൊക്കിടാൻ വേണ്ടി ഒരു ദ്വാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ശേഷം ആൺപക്ഷി കാടായ കാടൊക്ക തേടിനടന്ന് ഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് പെൺപക്ഷിക്ക് ആ ദ്വാരത്തിലൂടെ കൊടുക്കും..മുട്ട വിരിഞ്ഞ് കഴിയുമ്പോൾ കൊക്ക് വെളിയിലേക്കിട്ട് പെൺപക്ഷി ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ശബ്ദം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കും..ഉടൻ തന്നെ ആൺപക്ഷി വന്ന് കൂട് കൊത്തിപ്പൊട്ടിക്കുകയും അമ്മയേയും മക്കളെയും സ്വതന്തരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും..ഒരുപക്ഷേ ഇരതേടിപോകുന്ന വഴിക്ക് അച്ഛൻ പക്ഷി മരീച്ചു പോയാൽ അമ്മക്കിളി യും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും കൂട്ടിൽ കിടന്നു മരിക്കും...നിശബ്ദമായ ഒരു തേങ്ങലോടെ മാത്രമേ എനിക്കിത് കേട്ടിരിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ളൂ...മനസിൽ ഒരു നെരിപ്പോട് എരീയുന്ന പ്രതീതി..
വഴിക്കണ്ണുമായി അച്ചനെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരമ്മയും വിശന്ന് കരഞ്ഞ് തളർന്ന ആ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും എൻെറ മനസിലുണ്ടാക്കിയ നീറ്റൽ പറഞ്ഞറിയിക്കാനാകില്ല..
കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ സ്വന്തം വീടുകളിൽ പോലും സുരക്ഷിതമല്ലാത്ത ഈ ലോകത്ത് വേഴാമ്പൽ എത്ര ഉദാത്തമായിട്ടാണ് കുടുംബം എന്ന സങ്കൽപ്പം നമുക്ക് കാട്ടി തരുന്നത്..ഇവരുടെ സ്നേഹം നമ്മെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എത്രയോ വലിയ പാഠമാണ്..
നാം നിസ്സാരമെന്നും ചെറുതെന്നും കരുതി ഒഴിവാക്കുന്ന പലതിലും പാഠങ്ങളുണ്ട്..ആരും ഒന്നൂം ചെറുതല്ല.

എങ്ങാനും സാമ്പാര്‍ കൂട്ടി ഊണുകഴിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഈ നാക്ക്‌ പല്ലിന്റെ ഇടയില്‍ പോയാലുള്ള അവസ്‌ഥ ഒന്നാലോചിച്ചു നോക്കൂ. അവയെ എത്ര ഭംഗിയായി സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. മാത്രമല്ല എല്ലാ അവയവങ്ങളും ഒന്നു നോക്കിക്കേ; അപ്പോള്‍ നമ്മള്‍ കൈ കൂപ്പിക്കൊണ്ട്‌ പറയും 'അഹം ബ്രഹ്‌മാസ്‌മി' ഞാനും ഈശ്വര ചൈതന്യത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമാണ്‌. അപ്പോള്‍ മനസ്സിലാകും ഈശ്വര പ്രണിധാനത്തിന്റെ അര്‍ത്ഥം.
പരമമായ ഒരു ചൈതന്യത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ ആധാരമായി നില്‍ക്കാന്‍ നമുക്ക് സാധിക്കണം. ആ ചൈതന്യത്തിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ കൈകൂപ്പി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കണം......
പല്ലിയുടെ മുട്ട കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ആ മുട്ടയ്‌ക്കകത്ത്‌ മുട്ടയിട്ട ദിവസം പൊട്ടിച്ചാല്‍ അല്‌പം വെള്ളം പോലത്തെ ദ്രാവകമേ ഉണ്ടാകൂ. കൃത്യം 11 ദിവസംകൊണ്ട്‌ ആ ദ്രാവകം ഒരു പല്ലിയായി മാറും. എത്ര ബയോകെമിക്കല്‍ ചെയ്‌ഞ്ചാണ്‌ ആ മുട്ടയ്‌ക്കകത്തുണ്ടാകുന്നത്‌. ഒരു കോഴി മുട്ടയിട്ടു കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ 21-ാം ദിവസം കൊക്കുള്ള, നഖങ്ങളുള്ള, കാലുകളുള്ള, ചിറകുകളുള്ള ഇറച്ചിവച്ച ഒരു കോഴിക്കുഞ്ഞ്‌ പുറത്തേക്ക്‌ വരും.
ആ ചിത്രം ഒന്ന്‌ ചിന്തിച്ചുനോക്കൂ. ഒരു വിരിയാറായ കോഴിമുട്ട, വിരിയാറായ താറാവുമുട്ട കുളക്കടവില്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി വെള്ളത്തിന്റെ അടുത്തുവയ്‌ക്കുക. എന്നിട്ട്‌ ദൂരെ മാറിനിന്ന്‌ നോക്കുക. കോഴിമുട്ട പൊട്ടിച്ച്‌ കോഴിക്കുഞ്ഞ്‌ പുറത്തുവരും. അതുപോലെ താറാവുമുട്ട പൊട്ടിച്ച്‌ താറാവു കുഞ്ഞ്‌ പുറത്തുവരും. രണ്ടു കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും വെള്ളത്തിലേക്ക്‌ നോക്കുന്നുണ്ടാകും.

ആ കമ്യൂണിസ്‌റ്റ് പച്ച തിന്നരുതെന്ന്‌ അതിനകത്ത്‌ എഴുതിവച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. അതിന്റെ തലച്ചോറില്‍ അത്‌ എഴുതി വച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്‌. ആ അറിവിനെയാണ്‌ പ്രപഞ്ചചൈതന്യം എന്നു പറയുന്നത്‌. അതിന്റെ ഒരു ഭാഗം ആത്മചൈതന്യമായി നമ്മളിലുണ്ട്‌. അതുകൊണ്ടാണ്‌ നമ്മുടെ ഹൃദയം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്‌, കരള്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നത്‌. അത്‌ എല്ലാ ജീവജാലങ്ങളിലും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു.

Fish Story

STORY
The Japanese have always loved fresh fish
But the water close to Japan has not held many fish for decades.
So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever.
The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish
If the return trip took more time, the fish were not fresh.
To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats.
They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea.
Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.
However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish and they did not like the taste of frozen fish
The frozen fish fetched a lower price.
So, fishing companies installed fish tanks.
They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin.
After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste.
The fishing industry faced an impending crisis!
But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan.
How did they manage...?
To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks but with a small shark
The fishl are challenged and hence are constantly on the move.
The challenge they face keeps them alive and fresh!
Have you realized that some of us are also living in a pond but most of the time tired and dull....?
Basically in our lives, sharks are new challenges to keep us active.
If you are steadily conquering
challenges, you are happy.
Your challenges keep you energized.
Don't create Success and revel in it in a state of inertia.
You have the resources, skills and abilities to make a difference.
Put a shark in your tank this year and see how far you can really go....

A good interpretation of Mahabharata
Sanjay , was finally there, Kurukshetra, the ground where the great war of Mahabharata was fought.
He wanted to make it his life's work to study and research about the epic.
He also knew that it was not possible till he went to the spot where the greatest war took place.
It was said in the texts that eighty percent of the fighting male population of the civilization was wiped out in the eighteen days of the war.
He stood on the ground, the sun overhead; it was hot, the wind hiding the far reaches of the grounds with columns of dust.
He looked around and wondered if the war really happened, if the ground beneath him had soaked all that blood, if the great Pandavas and Krishna stood where he stood.
"You will never know the truth about that!" said an aging soft voice.
Sanjay turned around to find an Old man in saffron robes appearing out of a column of dust. He had a long white beard and eyes that could settle an indignant storm.
"I know you are here to find out about the Kurukshetra war, but you cannot know about that war till you know what the real war is about." the Old man said enigmatically.
"What do you mean?"
Sanjay instantly knew that he was in the presence of someone who knew more about the war than any living person he had ever met .
"The Mahabharata is an Epic, a ballad, perhaps a reality but definitely a philosophy."
The Old man smiled luring Dev into more questions.
"Can you tell me what the philosophy is then?"
Sanjay requested.
"Sure. Here goes," began the Old man.
"The Pandavas are nothing but your five senses, sight, smell, taste, touch and sound and do you know what the Kauravas are?"
he asked narrowing his eyes.
Sanjay shook his head.
"The Kauravas are the hundred vices that attack your senses everyday but you can fight them and do you know how?"
Sanjay shook his head again.
"When Krishna rides your chariot!"
The Old man smiled brighter and Sanjay gasped at that gem of insight.
"Krishna is your inner voice ,your soul, your guiding light and if you let your life in his hands you have nothing to worry."
Sanjay was stupefied but came around quickly with another question. "Then why are Dronacharya and Bhishma fighting for the Kauravas, if they are vices?"
The Old man nodded, sadder for the question.
"It just means that as you grow up your perception of your elders change. The elders who you thought were perfect in your growing up years are not all that perfect. They have faults. And one day you will have to decide if they are for your good or your bad. Then you may also realize that you may have to fight them for the good. It is the hardest part of growing up and that is why the Geeta is important."
Sanjay slumped down on the ground, not because he was tired but because he could understand and was struck by the enormity of it all.
"What about Karna?" he whispered.
"Ah!" said the Old man. "You have saved the best for last. Karna is the brother to your senses, he is desire, he is a part of you but stands with the vices. He feels wronged and makes excuses for being the vices as your desire does all the time.
Does your desire not give you excuses to embrace vices?"
Sanjay nodded silently. He looked at the ground, consumed with a million thoughts, trying to put everything together and then when he looked up the Old man was gone.
He seemed to have disappeared in the column of dust.........

14 uses of Microwave oven no body told you.
If you have been using your microwave only for heating food, you probably don't know the multitude of uses it can be put into.
So before buying a new gadget for your kitchen, make sure you are making the optimum use of your microwave which alone can do the work of a number of expensive kitchen appliances.
- The freshness of cereals and crackers can be restored by heating them in full power for 30 seconds.
- Stale bread can be made soft and fresh again in the microwave by wrapping the bread slices with a damp kitchen towel and heating them in full power for 10-15 seconds.
- You can quickly boil the potatoes by putting them in a poly bag, sprinkling some water over them and then running them in the microwave on full power for 5-6 minutes.
- Chop off the top and bottom of onions, microwave them for 30 seconds and then peel them without shedding a single tear! And no, it does not impact their taste.
- It becomes very easy to peel garlic if you microwave it for a few seconds as the skin comes off very easily.
- You can toast nuts and almonds faster in the microwave, rather than doing the conventional way which is time consuming. Spread the nuts on a microwaveable plate, set the heat on high, and let it sit for 1 minute, stir and microwave again. Repeat this process for 4-5 minutes or till done.
- If honey or jam has crystallized, just remove the lid, place the jar in the microwave, and heat for two minutes.
- You can make clarified butter or ghee in microwave in an effortless and fuss free manner. Beat the cream in a blender. Pour it in a microwave safe glass bowl (don't use plastic even if it is microwave safe) and heat on high for 10 to 15 minutes or till the ghee separates. But be very careful as making ghee involves very high temperatures and there is always a danger of spilling over, burning and scalding.
- Place the herbs on a paper towel and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes. Your dried herbs are ready. You can also use your microwave to dry soggy foods.
- If you feel your cereals or spices are getting spoilt, just microwave them for 1-2 minutes and all lurking bugs will say goodbye.
- Microwave lemon for 20 seconds and you will be able to extract more juice.
- You can melt chocolate/jiggery/butter /cheese easily by heating them for 2 minutes.
- To get foamy milk for hot beverages, pour fresh milk about halfway in a jar. Close its lid and shake the milk until it becomes frothy. Remove the lid, place the jar in the microwave, and heat it high for 30 seconds. Pour it over your ht drink!
- It becomes easier to peel fruits like tomatoes, apricots and prunes if you microwave them for 1-2 minutes.
