"In the run up to the meting of justice to Yakub Memon, there were a lot of forward thinking & liberal minded "Intellectuals", our air-conditioned humanitarian Nationalists who raised a biiig hue and cry and signed mercy petitions. They should read this response by the Canadian Govt to their own armchair philanthropists on their concerns regarding standards of treatment of captured Terrorists.

Here is an example.
A Canadian female liberal wrote a lot of letters to the Canadian Government , complaining about the treatment of captive insurgents (terrorists) being held in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities.

Dear Concerned Citizen,

Thank you for your recent letter expressing your profound concern of treatment of the Taliban and Al Qaeda terrorists captured by Canadian Forces, who were subsequently transferred to the Afghanistan Government and are currently being held by Afghan officials in Afghanistan National Correctional System facilities.

Our Administration takes these matters seriously and your opinions were heard loud and clear here in Ottawa. You will be pleased to learn, thanks to the concerns of citizens like yourself… we are creating a new department here at the Department of National Defence, to be called 'Liberals Accept Responsibility for Killers' program, or "L.A.R.K." for short.

In accordance with the guidelines of this new program, we have decided, on a trial basis, to divert several terrorists and place them in homes of concerned and responsible citizens such as yourself… around the country, under those citizens personal care. Your personal detainee has been selected and is scheduled for transportation under heavily armed guard to your residence in Toronto next Monday.

Ali Mohammed Ahmed bin Mahmud is your detainee, and is to be cared for pursuant to the standards you personally demanded in your letter of complaint. You will be pleased to know that we will conduct weekly inspections to ensure that your standards of care for Ahmed are commensurate with your recommendations.

Although Ahmed is a sociopath and extremely violent, we hope that your sensitivity to what you described as his 'attitudinal problem' will help him overcome those character flaws. Perhaps you are correct in describing these problems as mere 'cultural differences'. We understand that you plan to offer 'counselling and home schooling', however, we strongly recommend that you hire some assistant caretakers.

Please advise any Jewish friends, neighbours or relatives about your house guest, as he might get agitated or even violent, but we are sure you can 'reason' with him. He is also expert at making a wide variety of explosive devices from common household products, so you may wish to keep those items locked up, unless in your opinion, this might 'offend him and his sensibilities'. Your adopted terrorist is extremely proficient in hand-to-hand combat and can extinguish human life with such simple items as a pencil or nail clippers. We advise that you do not ask him to demonstrate these skills either in your home or wherever you choose to take him while 'helping him adjust to life in our country'.

Ahmed will not wish to interact with you or your daughters except sexually… since he views females as a form of property, thereby having no rights, including refusal of his sexual demands. This is a particularly sensitive subject for him.

You also should know that he has shown violent tendencies around women who fail to comply with the dress code that he will recommend as more appropriate attire. I'm sure you will come to enjoy the anonymity offered by the burka over time. Just remember that it is all part of 'respecting his culture and religious beliefs' as described in your letter.

You take good care of Ahmed and remember that we will try to have a counsellor available to help you over any difficulties you encounter while Ahmed is adjusting to Canadian culture.

പിന്നെ ദുശ്ശളയും

എന്തു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിനെ നമ്മുടെ സംസ്ഥാനപക്ഷിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്..?

ആറു മാസം മുന്നേ പത്തനംതിട്ടയിൽ വച്ചു നടന്ന ഒരു നേതൃത്വ പരിശീലന ക്ലാസ്,...ഇഷ്ടവിഷയമായതു കൊണ്ടും അല്പതലക്കനം കൂടുതലായതു കൊണ്ടും ക്ലാസ്സിൻെറ മുൻനിരയിൽ സ്ഥാനംപിടിച്ചു...ക്ലാസ്സെടുക്കുന്നത് കോഴിക്കോട് സ്കൂൾ ജാഗ്രതാസമിതിയുടെ ജില്ലാകോർഡിനേറ്റർ ആണ്...ഓരോരോ ചോദ്യങ്ങൾ ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം ക്ലാസിലേക്ക് കടന്നു..പെട്ടന്ന് അപ്രതീക്ഷിതമായൊരു ചോദ്യം.....എന്തു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിനെ നമ്മുടെ സംസ്ഥാനപക്ഷിയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നത്..??..പല ഉത്തരങ്ങളും പറഞ്ഞു..മഴ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്നതുകൊണ്ട്,,വംശനാശം സംഭവിക്കുന്നതു കൊണ്ട്,,,,അങ്ങനെ പലതും..എല്ലാം കേട്ടതിനു ശേഷം സാർ പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങി..നമ്മൾ കേരളീയർ കുടുംബ ബന്ധങ്ങൾക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യം കൽപ്പിക്കുന്നവരാണ്...അതുപോലെ കുടുംബത്തിനു പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകുന്നതു കൊണ്ടാണ് വേഴാമ്പലിന് ആ പദവി കിട്ടിയതെന്നു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചൊന്നും തോന്നിയില്ല..എന്നാൽ കാര്യങ്ങൾ വിശദീകരീച്ചപ്പോൾ ഒരു മുത്തശ്ശിക്കഥ കേൾക്കുന്ന ലാഘവത്തോടെ ഞാൻ കേട്ടിരുന്നു്..ഒട്ടേറെ നൊമ്പരത്തോടെയും.......
സാധാരണ പക്ഷികളും മ്യഗങ്ങളും പോളിഗാമിയാണ്..അതായത് ഒരു പക്ഷിക്ക് ഒന്നിലേറെ ഇണകൾ...എന്നാൽ വേഴാമ്പലിൻെറ ജീവിതായുസ്സിൽ ,അതിന് ഒരൊറ്റ ഇണ മാത്രമേയുള്ളൂ.. വേഴാമ്പൽ ഇണ ചേർന്നശേഷം മരത്തിൽ പൊത്തുണ്ടാക്കി പെൺപക്ഷി അതിൽ മുട്ടയിടുന്നു..പെൺപക്ഷിയെ പൊത്തിലിരുത്തി ആൺപക്ഷി തൻെറ ശരീരത്തിൽനിന്നുള്ള ഒരു ദ്രവം കൊണ്ട് പൊത്ത് അടയ്ക്കും..കൊക്കിടാൻ വേണ്ടി ഒരു ദ്വാരം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ ശേഷം ആൺപക്ഷി കാടായ കാടൊക്ക തേടിനടന്ന് ഭക്ഷണം കൊണ്ടുവന്ന് പെൺപക്ഷിക്ക് ആ ദ്വാരത്തിലൂടെ കൊടുക്കും..മുട്ട വിരിഞ്ഞ് കഴിയുമ്പോൾ കൊക്ക് വെളിയിലേക്കിട്ട് പെൺപക്ഷി ഒരു പ്രത്യേക ശബ്ദം പുറപ്പെടുവിക്കും..ഉടൻ തന്നെ ആൺപക്ഷി വന്ന് കൂട് കൊത്തിപ്പൊട്ടിക്കുകയും അമ്മയേയും മക്കളെയും സ്വതന്തരാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും..ഒരുപക്ഷേ ഇരതേടിപോകുന്ന വഴിക്ക് അച്ഛൻ പക്ഷി മരീച്ചു പോയാൽ അമ്മക്കിളി യും കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും കൂട്ടിൽ കിടന്നു മരിക്കും...നിശബ്ദമായ ഒരു തേങ്ങലോടെ മാത്രമേ എനിക്കിത് കേട്ടിരിക്കാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ളൂ...മനസിൽ ഒരു നെരിപ്പോട് എരീയുന്ന പ്രതീതി..
വഴിക്കണ്ണുമായി അച്ചനെ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരമ്മയും വിശന്ന് കരഞ്ഞ് തളർന്ന ആ കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങളും എൻെറ മനസിലുണ്ടാക്കിയ നീറ്റൽ പറഞ്ഞറിയിക്കാനാകില്ല..
കുഞ്ഞുങ്ങൾ സ്വന്തം വീടുകളിൽ പോലും സുരക്ഷിതമല്ലാത്ത ഈ ലോകത്ത് വേഴാമ്പൽ എത്ര ഉദാത്തമായിട്ടാണ് കുടുംബം എന്ന സങ്കൽപ്പം നമുക്ക് കാട്ടി തരുന്നത്..ഇവരുടെ സ്നേഹം നമ്മെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് എത്രയോ വലിയ പാഠമാണ്..
നാം നിസ്സാരമെന്നും ചെറുതെന്നും കരുതി ഒഴിവാക്കുന്ന പലതിലും പാഠങ്ങളുണ്ട്..ആരും ഒന്നൂം ചെറുതല്ല.
അവയിലെ നന്മയേയും മൂല്യങ്ങളെയും തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ് മാതൃകയാക്കുന്നതല്ലേ മാനവികത...നെഞ്ചിലേറ്റി നടക്കാൻ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന ചില അസ്വസ്ഥതകൾ എല്ലാവരിലുമുണ്ട്...അതിലൊന്നാകട്ടേ ഈ വേഴാമ്പലും....

The Japanese have always loved fresh fish

But the water close to Japan has not held many fish for decades.

So to feed the Japanese population, fishing boats got bigger and went farther than ever.

The further the fishermen went, the longer it took to bring the fish

If the return trip took more time, the fish were not fresh.

To solve this problem, fish companies installed freezers on their boats.

They would catch the fish and freeze them at sea.

Freezers allowed the boats to go farther and stay longer.

However, the Japanese could taste the difference between fresh and frozen fish and they did not like the taste of frozen fish

The frozen fish fetched a lower price.

So, fishing companies installed fish tanks.

They would catch the fish and stuff them in the tanks, fin to fin.

After a little thrashing around, they were tired, dull, and lost their fresh-fish taste.

The fishing industry faced an impending crisis!

But today, they get fresh-tasting fish to Japan.

How did they manage...?

To keep the fish tasting fresh, the Japanese fishing companies still put the fish in the tanks but with a small shark

The fishl are challenged and hence are constantly on the move.

The challenge they face keeps them alive and fresh!

Have you realized that some of us are also living in a pond but most of the time tired and dull....?

Basically in our lives, sharks are new challenges to keep us active.

If you are steadily conquering
challenges, you are happy.

Your challenges keep you energized.

Don't create Success and revel in it in a state of inertia.

A good interpretation of Mahabharata

Sanjay , was finally there, Kurukshetra, the ground where the great war of Mahabharata was fought.

He wanted to make it his life's work to study and research about the epic.

He also knew that it was not possible till he went to the spot where the greatest war took place.

It was said in the texts that eighty percent of the fighting male population of the civilization was wiped out in the eighteen days of the war.

He stood on the ground, the sun overhead; it was hot, the wind hiding the far reaches of the grounds with columns of dust.

He looked around and wondered if the war really happened, if the ground beneath him had soaked all that blood, if the great Pandavas and Krishna stood where he stood.


"You will never know the truth about that!" said an aging soft voice.

Sanjay turned around to find an Old man in saffron robes appearing out of a column of dust. He had a long white beard and eyes that could settle an indignant storm.

"I know you are here to find out about the Kurukshetra war, but you cannot know about that war till you know what the real war is about." the Old man said enigmatically.

"What do you mean?"

Sanjay instantly knew that he was in the presence of someone who knew more about the war than any living person he had ever met .
"The Mahabharata is an Epic, a ballad, perhaps a reality but definitely a philosophy."

The Old man smiled luring Dev into more questions.

"Can you tell me what the philosophy is then?"

Sanjay requested.

"Sure. Here goes," began the Old man.

"The Pandavas are nothing but your five senses, sight, smell, taste, touch and sound and do you know what the Kauravas are?"
he asked narrowing his eyes.

Sanjay shook his head.

"The Kauravas are the hundred vices that attack your senses everyday but you can fight them and do you know how?"

Sanjay shook his head again.
"When Krishna rides your chariot!"
The Old man smiled brighter and Sanjay gasped at that gem of insight.

"Krishna is your inner voice ,your soul, your guiding light and if you let your life in his hands you have nothing to worry."

Sanjay was stupefied but came around quickly with another question. "Then why are Dronacharya and Bhishma fighting for the Kauravas, if they are vices?"

The Old man nodded, sadder for the question.

"It just means that as you grow up your perception of your elders change. The elders who you thought were perfect in your growing up years are not all that perfect. They have faults. And one day you will have to decide if they are for your good or your bad. Then you may also realize that you may have to fight them for the good. It is the hardest part of growing up and that is why the Geeta is important."


Sanjay slumped down on the ground, not because he was tired but because he could understand and was struck by the enormity of it all.

"What about Karna?" he whispered.

"Ah!" said the Old man. "You have saved the best for last. Karna is the brother to your senses, he is desire, he is a part of you but stands with the vices. He feels wronged and makes excuses for being the vices as your desire does all the time.

Does your desire not give you excuses to embrace vices?"

Sanjay nodded silently. He looked at the ground, consumed with a million thoughts, trying to put everything together and then when he looked up the Old man was gone.

He seemed to have disappeared in the column of dust.........
